New Delhi: A household of six people, together with the husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, have been booked for allegedly compelling a lady to vacate their home by giving her triple talaq and subsequently coercing her into ‘nikah halala’ along with her brother-in-law, information company PTI reported. The household has additionally been accused of dowry harassment.
The lady, in her grievance, additional asserted that her in-laws tried to kill her. The incident, which befell almost every week again, surfaced on social media on Thursday.
In accordance with police, the grievance filed at Khodare police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda particulars the girl’s marriage to Tasauvvar, often known as Benchai, on September 25, 2023. Upon shifting into her in-laws’ residence post-marriage, she found that Tasauvvar was beforehand married with 5 kids. Regardless of this revelation, she continued residing with him.
The grievance alleges that following the wedding, her in-laws demanded a bike and Rs 1 lakh in money from her household. On December 10, 2023, she allegedly confronted bodily assault from her husband, who went on to offer her a triple talaq, forcing her out of their dwelling.
Subsequently, the girl lodged a grievance with the police on December 18, 2023. The police facilitated a decision between the concerned events and reunited the girl along with her in-laws on December 30, 2023, PTI reported.
Nevertheless, upon her return, she was denied entry into the home, citing triple talaq and ‘nikah halala’. On January 1, 2024, she was allegedly pressured to endure ‘nikah’ along with her brother-in-law Mohammad Nizam. Following this, Nizam reportedly gave her a triple talaq, prompting her to return to her former husband Tasauvvar.
On January 10, her husband allegedly accompanied her to a personal hospital for an abortion of her two-month-old foetus. Regardless of this, her members of the family persistently harassed her for dowry, police mentioned, citing her grievance.
“Based mostly on the grievance lodged by the girl, a case has been registered towards her husband Tasauvvar alias Benchai, her father-in-law Aslam, brothers-in-law Mohammad Nizam and Tahvvar, mother-in-law and sister-in-law,” Manoj Kumar Pathak, SHO of Khodare police station, instructed PTI.
The accused have been charged below varied sections of the Indian Penal Code, Dowry Prohibition Act, and The Muslim Girls (Safety of Rights on Marriage) Act.
“Proof of triple talaq and halala has not surfaced throughout the investigation. The probe is ongoing, and additional motion shall be decided primarily based on gathered proof,” Pathak mentioned, including “No arrests have been made up to now.”
