The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a cash laundering case in opposition to TMC chief Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani in reference to an alleged cash-for-queries rip-off case, information company PTI reported on Tuesday, citing official sources. Based on CBI officers, the probe company registered an FIR in opposition to her and Hiranandani on the directives of Lokpal which has instructed the company to file its report inside six months, PTI reported.
Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha after allegations of bribery for asking questions in Parliament. She was accused of receiving money and items from Hiranandani to assault Prime Minister Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani — a cost she has repeatedly denied.
The Lokpal has issued the instructions to the CBI after receiving findings of its preliminary inquiry into allegations made by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey in opposition to Moitra. He has alleged that the TMC chief had requested questions within the decrease home in change for money and items from Hiranandani to mount an assault on industrialist Gautam Adani and PM Modi amongst others.
