Bengaluru police in Karnataka have arrested Gopal Joshi, the brother of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The arrest follows a grievance filed by Sunita Chauhan, spouse of former Janata Dal (Secular) MLA Devanand Chauhan, who accused him of fraud and violations of the SC/ST Act.
In her grievance, Sunita Chauhan alleged that Gopal Joshi had promised to safe a ticket for her husband within the upcoming elections after accepting two crore rupees. Nonetheless, neither the ticket was supplied nor was the cash returned. Following the investigation, police proceeded to arrest Gopal Joshi.
‘No Relation with Brother’: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi

Case Towards Gopal Joshi
On 18 October, the Basaveshwaranagar police registered a case towards Gopal Joshi and a girl named Vijayalakshmi Joshi. The grievance was lodged by Sunita Chauhan, who alleged that Gopal had assured the household that he would safe a BJP ticket for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for Could. In response to the grievance, she started contacting Gopal at his residence in Hubli, North Karnataka, in March and subsequently handed over 25 lakh rupees to Vijayalakshmi at her house in Basaveshwaranagar, appearing on Gopal’s directions.
