New Delhi: Slamming the BJP over the alleged assault on the car of Congress chief Jairam Ramesh in Assam, celebration president Mallikarjun Kharge stated the saffron celebration was so “scared” of the success of the Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra that they have been resorting to such ways, information company PTI reported.
Taking potshots at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Kharge equated him with a “cat that meows at its proprietor”. He was hinting at Sarma’s entry into politics by the Congress.
“No stone was hurled through the first yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Nobody tried to threaten us despite the fact that we crossed many BJP-ruled states. Even in Nagpur, which has the RSS headquarters, lakhs of individuals joined us and there was no incident. Why is it taking place in Assam? It’s taking place right here as a result of (prime minister Narendra) Modi ji’s ‘chela’ (disciple), who blindly listens to his ‘sahab’ (boss),” PTI quoted Kharge as saying.
Citing the assault Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah earlier within the day, Kharge additional stated that the nation has gotten illiberal and the accused the BJP of “orchestrating the assault on the peaceable yatra”, PTI reported.
“The yatra is happening so efficiently right here that BJP persons are scared and so they attacked our state celebration chief. However he (Borah) will not be afraid, nor any Congress employee. Our state president was bleeding from his nostril. The place has tolerance gone within the nation? Our folks have been conducting a peaceable yatra,” PTI quoted Kharge as saying.
Congress chief Jairam Ramesh alleged that his car was attacked by a crowd “despatched by the BJP” and claimed that Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was behind it.
Taking to X, he wrote, “My car was attacked a couple of minutes in the past at Jumugurihat, Sunitpur by an unruly BJP crowd who additionally tore off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stickers from the windshield. They threw water and shouted anti-BJNY slogans. However we saved our composure, waved to the hooligans and sped away. That is undoubtedly the Assam CM @himantabiswa’s doing. We’re not intimidated and can soldier on.”
