New Delhi: Congregational prayers have been held at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid on Friday after remaining barred for 10 weeks, information company PTI reported.
“The Friday prayers have been allowed and concluded with none disturbance,” the information company quoted an official as saying.

Though the prayers have been held within the mosque, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers the Friday sermons, was not allowed to maneuver out of his home within the Nigeen space of the town, PTI reported.
The Friday prayers remained suspended in view of apprehensions of protests over the Israel assault in Gaza.
The historic mosque, located in Srinagar’s Nowhatta space remained locked with safety personnel stationed exterior to keep up legislation and order.
As per PTI, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, the managing physique of the mosque, had mentioned in a press release that the police personnel have closed the Masjid gates and knowledgeable that Friday prayers is not going to be allowed.
