PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday (November 29) strongly criticised the invocation of Illegal Actions Prevention Act (UAPA) fees in opposition to seven college students of Kashmir College who’re accused of elevating anti-India slogans following the ICC World Cup last match.

Calling the motion “draconian”, Mufti mentioned: “This incident demonstrates that the BJP has even criminalised the spirit of sports activities in Kashmir. It is ironic that the individuals who celebrated the collective humiliation of the individuals after dismembering J&Ok cannot tolerate Australia’s superior sport on the day to be cheered. By which younger college students have been arrested below the draconian UAPA for merely cheering on a great sport. That is when the nation’s Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] congratulated Australia on its victory,” as reported by The Hindu.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mufti referred to as the arrest of seven college college students “stunning” for allegedly elevating objectionable slogans and celebrating India’s World Cup loss.
The previous Jammu and Kashmir chief minister additionally requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of the union territory to look into the matter.

The arrested college students are college students at Kashmir’s Sher-e-Kashmir College of Agricultural Sciences and Expertise (SKUAST). The scholars have been arrested after police launched an investigation right into a criticism filed by a non-local pupil alleging that his faculty mates harassed him and shouted offensive slogans after India misplaced the ultimate match and the cup to Australia.
