In a current order dated July 22, the Karnataka Excessive Court docket stayed all proceedings in opposition to a person accused of getting wrongfully confined his neighbour’s pet cat named Daisy.
A bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna granted interim reduction to a person named Taha Hussain by staying all proceedings in opposition to him until his petition is diposed by the courtroom.

Hussain’s neighbour filed a police criticism in opposition to him over lacking pet Daisy, following which the police booked him on prices of prison intimidation, breach of peace, and insulting the modesty of a girl below Sections 504, 506, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.
“The crux of the allegation is, a cat by identify Daisy, owned by respondent No.2 – complainant goes lacking because it jumps from wall to wall of the homes adjoining to it. Subsequently, a criticism for the aforesaid offences is alleged in opposition to this petitioner for holding the cat. The allegation is that the cat was in the home of the petitioner as may very well be seen from the CCTV footage,” the courtroom famous in its order staying the prison proceedings in opposition to Hussain.
Lawyer showing for Hussain informed the courtroom that cats will get in and exit from the home windows and allowing additional proceedings on such a frivolous criticism for the alleged offences below Sections 504, 506 and 509 of the IPC, would clog the prison justice system.

When the courtroom questioned that how the police concluded that the Daisy the cat, was confined in Hussain’s home, the counsel informed the excessive courtroom that the police test the CCTV footage from the realm which confirmed tha cat was current in Hussain’s home at one level of time. The lawyer attributed this presence to the Cat’s habbit of climbing partitions on neighbouring homes.
The excessive courtroom whereas staying all proceedings in opposition to Hussain stated, that allowing additional proceedings in such frivolous circumstances will clog the prison justice system. Subsequently there shall be an interim order of keep on additional proceedings until the disposal of the petition.
