In a major political improvement forward of the Lok Sabha elections, Jhargram BJP MP Kunar Hembram switched allegiance to the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Hembram joined the TMC within the presence of the celebration’s nationwide common secretary Abhishek Banerjee at an election assembly on Sunday. Hembram, who was elected in 2019 on a BJP ticket, introduced his determination to hitch TMC citing his dedication to the state’s improvement below the management of TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. “I’ll work for the event of the state below the management of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee,” Hembram acknowledged, as per information company PTI.
The TMC launched a short assertion remarking on the importance of Hembram’s defection, noting, “On the day Narendra Modi is holding sabhas in Bengal, BJP’s outgoing MP Kunar Hembram joins TMC within the presence of Abhishek Banerjee.”
The TMC posted on X, “Within the presence of our Nat’l GS, Shri @abhishekaitc, BJP’s outgoing MP from Jhargram, Kunar Hembram, proudly took up the Trinamool Congress flag. We wholeheartedly welcome him to the Trinamool Congress household. Collectively, we’re dedicated to preventing for the welfare of our Ma, Mati, Manush!”
Nevertheless, the BJP downplayed the impression of Hembram’s departure. BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya commented, “His departure is not going to have an effect on the BJP in any manner. We welcome individuals who work for the plenty, not for tickets. Nominating anybody is the celebration’s determination”, as quoted by PTI.
In line with ABP Ananda, Hembram remarked that the BJP opposes the tribals. “Adivasis might be affected by the Uniform Civil Code they’ll convey,” he mentioned on his determination to hitch Trinamool.

Jhargram MP Kunar Hembram Give up BJP After Being Denied
The transfer follows Hembram’s resignation from the BJP on March 9, citing private causes after he was denied a ticket. BJP has nominated Pranat Tudu in Jhargram.
In his resignation letter to BJP President JP Nadda, Hembram wrote, “That is to formally inform you that I disassociate myself from the celebration efficient instantly. The choice is because of my private causes that I’ve fastidiously thought-about.”
Within the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had made vital inroads in West Bengal, securing 18 out of 42 seats, whereas the TMC received 22 seats and the Congress secured 2 seats.
